In Rememberance of Mike LaPlant
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of QCBID Director Mike LaPlant. All of us at Quincy-Columbia Basin Irrigation District extend our sincere condolences to Mike’s wife Carol and their family, and to his many friends and colleagues.
For 30 water seasons, Mike dedicated his quiet leadership as Director on the Quincy-Columbia Basin Irrigation District Board, committed to championing the District’s and the Columbia Basin Project’s irrigation agriculture mission. Over his years of service, he served as Columbia Basin Hydropower Board President, Washington State Farm Bureau President, Washington State Water Resources Association President, Columbia Basin Development League Trustee, Family Farm Alliance Advisory Committee Member and Grant County Fire District 15 Commissioner. His passing leaves a gap in knowledge and mentorship that cannot easily be replaced. We remain grateful for his professional partnership and tireless public service and are grateful to have shared his friendship that grew from it. His absence is not only felt at the District and among the landowners he served as an irrigation district Director and fire district Commissioner, but also the irrigated agricultural society at large.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 25th, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Our Redeemer Presbyterian Church of Ephrata, 172 Ivy St SE, Ephrata, WA.
